Parisian Breeze Wonderful Hedgehog

Stamped my Penny Black hedgehog on Confetti White with Staz On, coloured with SU markers and inkpads with aqua pen to obtain the matching colours.

Cut into shape with Nestibles background mat from Parisian Breeze Textured Designer Series Pattern Paper by Stampin Up in the next size to make a frame. Foam mount onto background card when completed.

Cut another mat from Parisian Breeze DSP papers, the top floral border layer is just a scrap, some pieces cuttlebugged to add texture.

The front of the card was punched with SU scallop borderpunch to give a gentle softening effect on the lower edge.

I used the bold stripe to make the card itself this time which has a lovely floral on the other side making the inside very girly. You can only get away with this because this lovely textured dsp paper is of a cardstock weight.

I added a liner with more cardstock for quality and texture; which I have uploaded separately. I also added a small strip of another contrasting stripe to the bottom edge of the back inner of the card which shows below the scallop edge to add a bit more interest, layers texture and contrast.

All the edges are inked extensively and there is some gold leaf randomly applied to the front that just looks like ink smudges on here but is actually bling like.

Finish with Flower, Pearl Brad and an organza ribbon and bow.

Gilded Fathers Day 2009

Hello friends,

CHIT CHAT - I hope this finds you having a lovely day; today is Fathers Day in Australia and we have just been for Devonshire teas and a plate of cakes - almost a veritable High Tea but not quite! That, we intend to do on Friday! *grin*

Here is the card I made for Peter for Fathers Day; now he is not MY father but he is a Father, to one very grown up young woman whom is unlikely to contact him until she is ready... and that makes him horribly sad :(

So, as a kindness and because we have no children together this card is made and gifted on behalf of those under his care to soften his dissappointment - given with love from THE very spoilt FUR BABIES! Dog, cats and birds!

CARD RECIPE -

Happy Fathers Day (Stampin Up) stamped with Close to Cocoa on Confetti White also SU; distressed with sponged ink and spritzed with Glimmer Mist. Shapes cut and embossed with Spellbinders Nestibilities and matted on various shapes which have also been texturised in the cuttlebug using embossing folders. Note where I have inked the edges of the green mat and you can see the pattern more clearly.

Beautiful papers are from K & Co K-ology Addison 12" pack; the stripe is scallop edged using SU Scallop border punch. All edges of all pieces are inked to distress.

Ribbon Navy & cocoa and card gilded in areas with gold leaf. The whole is mounted on Night of Navy Cardstock by SU.
Wishing you all a beautiful week full of blessings.

Hedgehog asleep on stocking at Christmas

Hi stampers,

Same as original but after stamping Hedgehog onto Confetti White with StazOn and colouring with SU markers and inks with Aqua Pen; I spritzed the image with Glimmer Mist Vanilla Breeze.

Cut out with Spellbinders Nestibles and mat on same. Mat has been cuttlebugged with a snowflake texture.

Mat front of White card with Pattern Papers from DCWV La Creme Premium Stack. The top most pattern is flock where it appears grey.

My red brocade trim really enhances the red stocking and I flocked trim and toe of same; will take another photograph! Can't leave well enough alone! *grin*

Sleepy Christmas Hedgehog

FIRST LET ME SAY I AM SORRY FOR MY TYPOS, MY SPELLING and my Grammer are NOT always so awful! he he he

So, to the card!!!

Stamped Hedgehog onto Confetti White with StazOn and coloured with SU markers and inks with Aqua Pen.

Cut out with Spellbinder Nestibilities and mat on same. Mat has been cuttlebugged with a snowflake texture.

Mat front of White card with Pattern Papers; these are from DCWV La Creme Premium Stack and are available in Australia from Big W at a very reasonable price for a VERY good quality product. The top most pattern is flock where it appears grey.

Finish with a red bobbled velvet ribbon or brocade. A little diamond dazzle added to sock trim for christmas sparkle but not shown here.

On inserts or liners inside of cards - a MUST have!

It annoys me no end to see an elegantly hand made and or stamped card which has no lining. An inner liner be it papaer or more cardstock adds a quality to your card that no shop purchased card can match. Our cards are infinitely more precious than those so more than warrant such treatments.

Off my soapbox now! More textured pattern cardstock to line inner. All edges inked and sponged.

Middle square is more Confetti White which i use a lot as it is better weight and quality that the SU Whisper white and not so stark in appearance. it also has a nice but slight texture to it which I like.

Happy Hedgehog Thank You sent to my Mum in August 09

Stamped my happy hedgehog from penny black with Staz On, coloured with SU markers and inkpads with aqua pen to obtain the matching colours.
Cut shape with Nestibles and background from Parisian Breeze Textured Designer Series Pattern Paper by Stampin Up in the next size to make a frame.

Cut two more mats from Parisian Breeze DSP papers, the top floral layer is cuttlebugged with swiss dots to add texture. The lower mat the punched with SU new Edge Punch to give a pretty lacy effect upper and lower. Then matted onto the brown spot from the same paper pack then onto another pattern which i used to make the card itself as this textured dsp paper is actually a cardstock weight. I did line it with more cardstock for quality and texture; which I have uploaded separately.

All the edges are inked extensively and there is some gold leaf randomly applied to the front that just looks like ink smudges on here but is actually bling like. Finish with an organza ribbon and bow.

60th (Diamond) Anniversary Card made with Debbie S

Here is the 60th Anniversary card I made with the request and assistance of Debbie S for her parents in law's renewal of Wedding Vows. All I know of them is limited and as it was Diamond the shape seemed the most obvious route to take for inspiration.

Starting with white and the darker pattern grey you see here we cuttlebugged background and nestibled the foreground cardstock into something very formal and elegant.
The Background cuttlebugged cardface was treated to two patterns, one above and one below where the ribbon sits. Quite tricky but if you are careful can be achieved with a space between; it has been lightly inked on the edges and spritzed with Glimmer Mist Pearl.
The words with diamond dazzle and a slightly silvery bow in organza; I also passed a diamond crusted ribbon over the top of the organza to add a little more sparkle.

The bling was diamond like/silvery too but is picking up my mat colour from behind!

Grandma's little girl card

Here is a picture of "Happy Baby"; a card I made for my friend who has a lovely new Grand daughter to show off!

I wanted it to be bright and fun for her rather than the usual soft pastel pink and instead of stamping I found inspiration in these new pattern papers I picked up in a pad at Big W.

They are made by DCWV Inc and the pack was called Nursery. It's all pretty pinks and greens with sparkles, flock, embossing etc., featured throughout the pack.
Love that bling!!!

Brians 60th Birthday Card

Made for our Community House Manager Brian. LOVE that gold foil detail!!!

A beautiful, quick template to copy this masculine card idea; in this case using the ever popular K & Co pattern paper pack and a stampin up classic greeting stamp (HB) and can't forget those great nestible label shapes. Hope you like it. Dawnie. xx

For my Mum, The Owl and the Pussy Cat (cheshire?) lol

Hi,

Here is the Owl and the Pussy Cat (He's a very Cheshire grin kind of cat don't you think), a penny black stamp from the new clear stamps as is the greeting.

Coloured with Stampin Up markers and spritzed with Pearl Shimmer. Background marble on gloss is re-inker and alcohol of my own creation and then run through the cuttlebug - also the lavender cardstock.

Spellbinders nestable labels die cut out my cute picture. Ribbons, flower and button from stash and loads of love ute and hearts from Stampin Up on envelope.

Think that's all. Hope you like it. Have a great week all. Love Dawnie. xx

Ocean Faring Boat

Here is a card I made for my Brother as a get well, thinking he might like to look forward to going fishing when he is better.

Boat is stamped with Staz On on Speckled White, matted with going grey and night of navy, then a piece of gloss washed with re-inkers and alcohol which were diluted on a cotton ball first.

Navy Squares have been embossed in the cuttlebug with a wavy swirl to keep with the ocean theme. Then the whole lot is matted multiple times before placing on the front of a going grey card.

I can't seem to stop square cards rotating, it's infuriated and I'll fix them when I get a program to stop it happening. Thanks for looking.

Sharon's Birthday Card 09 - Alcohol Reinker Pastel Tartan Background

Hi folks

HELP! Can anyone tell me how I can stop my images twisting when I upload them?

Here is the card I made for my gf Sharon for her Birthday. I used the re-inker background Sharon made while experimenting with me; it resembled a tartan in pastel baby shades and I used a bit of it to highlight this cute card.

These are colours I have struggled with in the past but inspired me with my friend in mind. AND I REMEMBERED TO WRITE IN IT THIS YEAR! I often spend hours of love on the cards I made for my friends and familiy only to give them as a gift without the words I feel in my heart! It's a standing joke among my friends:)

It really was a good day from all accounts and you can see the fun and cards she received as well as her most beautiful creations too at Sharons blog by going to http://www.cardsbyrequest.blogspot.com/

Chestnut Horses Birthday Card, (masculine)

Peters birthday card turned out well, I am very happy with the look although it is a simplified version of my Mothers Day Card design. Stamped Image matted and foam mounted on and in a variety of Stampin Up Brown Cardstock & Inks and Artichoke card, velvet ribbon and ink. I hope you like it, he was delighted; he really likes the sponged and aged look of these cards. Dawnie. xx

Another Sail Boat stamped on faux marble background

Hi girls Here is an easier version of the Yacht on a re-inker/alcohol wash background on gloss cardstock, mounted, spritzed with glimmer gold and embellished with large eyelets and thick jute.

Sailing the Fair Seas

This card will be for my Brother Jerry's Birthday next month. Again the image is stamped on a faux marbled background made with an ink and alcohol wash. This background the colours were placed more purposefully. He was a naval officer in years gone by and now just enjoys a more sedate pace courtesy of the wind! I hope he will like it, he's having surgery on Monday so fingers crossed all goes well. I have lifted the image with foam dots and cuttlebugged the background with a wave like swirl. I hope you also like this effort. Have a great week! Dawnie. xx

Faux Marble using re-inkers and alcohol

Hi Girls, NO YOU DON'T DRINK IT!!! This is a sprits or wash of alcohol to help the ink spread. You can apply the inks in lots of ways even with just this one technique. There are other ways of making marble type backgrounds, one using Shaving Cream will be covered in the coming weeks. These techniques are done on gloss card. These have been done with a humble dove cotton swab, drops of ink applied directly to it, a good squirt of isocol rubbing alcohol or whatever high alcohol content liquid you can access and away you go, blotting, twisting, dragging styles all create unique looks, these can then be spead and diluted by spritzing with another fine mist of alcohol or washing with a heavy layer to the colours spread more fluidly, you can blow these around or tip and turn the paper to create more different looks. Here are a couple of cards made using pieces of handmade backgrounds and then stamping onto them in strategic places so it looks like you planned the colours to fit the image, in one case I did, the other is just good luck! Have fun playing. Love Dawnie. xx

Raglan and Lace Gown in Oyster

Hi all

Here is another variation created today at a class I demo'd. Take the basic cased pattern and elaborated on it using different punches, this one is the new to Australia Eyelet Border Punch.

Dazzling diamonds were added and use different cuttlebug textures, this one is textile and probably my favourite although I do love those swiss dots! That's all for now. Dawnie. xx
oops! No front! Will post it again later.

Wedding dress, another variation.

Little girls party dress

Hi, idea is cased from DebC and is a case from a case, see SCS and search Christenings.

I nipped in the waste and have made a few variations, starting with this one. See following photo's.

Baby Boy Christening

Hi Girls

Here is a Heritage Christening Gown Card for a Baby Boy in Soft Sky on Whisper White.

My appologies to DebC; if you would like to use the gown for your card, I can convert this idea with another stamp then you can use the gown on a card yourself. Sorry Debbie. I have made a cuttlebugged cross but don't like it, am thinking how to use the buggy so you can do your thing.

The same layout would work with any suitable baby stamps, including the buggy from this set. I have done a similar version in White and Sahara Sand and another with White and Going Grey for Wedding Congratulations using an oval centre and decorating with Flowers from the heartfelt thanks set. I'll endeavour to add a photo of one of these if I have one.

Have a fabulous week. Love Dawnie. xx

Saturday 18th April - Mothers Day Card - Plum Daisies

Hi Girls This is the make and take lesson for Saturday. Can't wait to show you all how I did it and try another colour mix. This one is Artichoke, Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Mellow Moss and White speckled paper and matching inks. Stamps you would need are script, lace or floral background, baroque swirly stamp from the set and the new daisy stamp is from the Upsy Daisy set. MY stitching is pricked and drawn with gold pen but it would be even more beautiful if sewn by machine or better still by hand with gold thread! See you all soon. Love Dawnie. xx

Spring Joy Card version 2 Sponged & Stitched

Hi Girls

I have sponged and stitched my Spring Joy Card now which ages it and adds more elements of interest, I'm much happier with it now although I wish I had used brown or black thread. D:)
